Class Cancellations

A cancellation policy is in effect for every class. Because they are different for our various programs, please see the specific class information or refer to your confirmation email to determine the cancellation policy for that class. 

Weather-Related Cancellations

In the case of inclement weather, please check the PUBLIC SCHOOL CLOSINGS for the town in which MAIA's education program is occurring. 

If the town CANCELS school for the day, then our classes are canceled as well. 

If the town issues a DELAY, then our:

  • Half-day morning programs are canceled for the day
  • Half-day afternoon programs will run as scheduled
  • Full-day programs will have a one (1)-hour delayed start time, and, in order to meet CE regulations, the class will also end one hour later. 
CIC-Ruble Graduate Seminars
These will be decided on a case-by-case basis. It is rare that a CIC-Ruble Graduate Seminar is canceled.    
Webinar classes will still run, as they are presented to multi-states. (The exception would be if the instructor loses power, or if there is a widespread power outage. If this happens, we will contact registered participants as soon as we are able to do so.)  If you are unable to attend due to weather issues, please contact MAIA Education within a business day of the scheduled class.

In the event of a weather-related cancellation, MAIA staff will contact all class participants via the email we have on file about rescheduling the class. 

Education Policy FAQs

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

In accordance with Title III of the ADA, we invite all registrants to advise us of any disability and requests to that disability at least 3 weeks prior to the program.


Some MAIA classes have the option to choose either a downloadable PDF version or a hard copy of the the course manual.

PDF Book/Manual (included in course price)

To access your downloadable PDF version of the book, log in to your MAIA account through our website ( When in your account, on the Participation page, scroll to Communities and you will find a link to the PDF for your class. 

  • We do not know the availability of Wi-fi or charging areas at all class locations, so be sure to:  Download the book to your electronic device prior to the class. 
  • Fully charge your electronic device.
  • If it is an in-person class, bring the device with you.
Hard Copy Book/Manual (available for an additional fee)

If you paid for the option to receive a hard copy of the course book, the book will be provided to you at the class. Please note that there is a surcharge on the class price for a hard copy book. We only print hard copies for individuals who pre-ordered and paid for them at registration. No extra hard copy books will be available at the class. 


If your class has been approved for continuing education units (CEUs), the Commonwealth of Massachusetts mandates that you must attend the class in its entirety to receive CEUs. Partial credit is not given and late arrivals will not receive CEUs. The state will not allow CEUs for the same class if taken within a 3-year period.  If your resident license is in any state other than Massachusetts, please check with your resident state to see if CEUs will apply.

Photo Identification

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts mandates that all program participants who are requesting continuing education (CE) credits must present photo identification to the registrar at the program location prior to entering the class.


There is no set dress code for our programs. 


Some classes do have examinations that accompany them. For in-person or webinar classes presented by a live instructor, taking/passing the examination has no bearing on the CEUs that will be issued.  If it is a self-study or recorded video program with no instructor, then examinations and the passing of them are a requirement of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  Exceptions to Inclement Weather Policies:


Please register early for classes! To avoid disappointment if classes fill up, and to ensure adequate time for us to process your registration. A surcharge will be added to all walk-ins and registrations received within 24 hours of the class.  WEBINARS: Webinar registrations CLOSE at the end of the day, two (2) business days before the class date.
