This course will emphasize a new exposure for commercial clients that requires discussions about coverage options to avoid Errors & Omissions claims. The course is recommended to risk managers and other insurance personnel interested in understanding this emerging product line.


  • Incidents related to shootings in public and private institutions and businesses have led to the development of Deadly Weapon, Active Shooter & Workplace Violence Insurance. A variety of organizations have a duty of care to maintain a safe environment for staff and visitors. In the event of an active shooter attack, they could be liable not only for civil action but regulatory action as well. There are significant challenges to organizations in securing their place of business while managing many people the public as well as employees. These organizations are particularly at risk from a lone attacker who could enter a business unchallenged. Many experts have said that Deadly Weapon, Active Shooter & Workplace Violence Insurance is "The New Cyber.”
  • Lawsuits related to these incidents create “gray areas” in standard insurance products. Attendees will discuss those gray areas, and look at exposures, risk management strategies, and the breadth of policies now being offered. As with any new product, it is difficult to price coverage, and we will look at current typical premiums. We will discuss the invaluable pre- and post-incident services the companies provide to those who purchase policies.
